Clarification: Jacob A. Shore, 26, of Rochester was the driver of the pickup truck. The name of the driver was incorrectly given to The Olympian by the Washington State Patrol.

A woman was taken to the hospital after reportedly running a stop sign and colliding Tuesday morning with a pickup truck south of Rochester.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill said Tawnie E. Lasby, 18, of Rochester, ran the stop sign at the intersection of Independence Road Southwest and Marble Street Southwest at 6:40 a.m.

Jacob A. Shore, 26, of Rochester, was driving a pickup west on Independence Road and hit the woman’s car, Gill said. The impact made it difficult for emergency responders to get the woman out of the car, he said.

Once freed, Gill said, Lasby was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Shore suffered minor injuries.

Gill said the cause of the crash was failure to follow restrictive signs and that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
