Contributions to Heck show transparency

April 29, 2012

In response to the recent letter to the editor entitled “Campaign funding tells a story”:

Denny Heck indeed has raised over $933,000. And any Democrat in the 10th Congressional District should be glad for it. If you look more closely, 90 percent of the money Heck has raised is from Washington state supporters.

If we want the 10th District to be represented by a Democrat come November, Heck should be ready to defend against national Republican super PACs who can take anonymous, limitless donations and spend the money anywhere in the country.

These national groups, headed by the likes of Karl Rove, are already dropping millions of dollars into local races across the country to buy negative TV advertisements.

These groups came into Washington in 2010 and they’ll likely come again – this time even better-funded. To that end, unlike anonymous super PAC donations, Heck’s donation disclosure transparently outlines every donor’s name and amount.
