State golf: Tumwater's Nickerson places third at 2A; Elma wins 1A girls team title behind Keating sisters

Six South Sound golfers placed in the top 10 of their respective state boys and girls golf tournaments, which wrapped up Wednesday at golf courses around the state. Elma's Keating sisters, senior Alexis and freshman Lauryn, finished 2-3 at The Home Course in DuPont to give the Eagles the 1A state team title with 48 points. Alexis Keating won the 2A individual title as a sophomore and is runner-up at 1A for the second consecutive year.

Tumwater's Seth Nickerson, who will play golf at PLU next year, shot a 78 Wednesday to finish tied for third at the 2A tournament at The Classic in Spanaway with a two-day total of 155. Also, in 2A girls, North Thurston's Olivia Lowe and Tumwater's Kayla Monroe placed sixth and 10th, respectively. Olympia's Dominick Francks, who won the 4A individual boys title last year, placed 23rd in Spokane. Click here for complete state golf results
