SEMIFINALS, HERE WE COME
Tumwater becomes the fourth South Sound school to reach the state semifinals in boys soccer. A win over Fife Friday night sends the Thunderbirds to the state championship game, which has been done by only two other schools – Elma and North Thurston.

Here are the schools who have reached the state semifinals in boys soccer:

Capital – 1988, 2010
Elma – 2002*
North Thurston – 1985**, 1987, 1990***, 1997, 2003
Tumwater – 2012
*Elma went on to reach the 2A title game in 2002, falling to Connell in a shootout, 1-0 (4-3 shootout)
** North Thurston went on to reach the 3A state title game, falling to Nathan Hale, 2-0
*** Five years later, led by senior twins Jason and James Dunn, North Thurston went on to win its AAA first state title, defeating Cascade of Everett, 3-1.
