A rottweiler and pit bull stolen from the Lewis County Animal Shelter over the weekend were found Wednesday.

The dogs were declared dangerous after allegedly attacking and killing alpacas on South Scheuber Road in Centralia and scheduled to be euthanized.

Lewis County Sheriff's deputies searched for the dogs, but it wasn't until receiving a tip Wednesday that the dogs were found.

Neighbors heard dogs barking on the property of Terry Petrich, the owner of the dogs.

Deputies went to the home at 2:16 p.m. and found the dogs hidden in a building surrounded by sheet metal siding in a wooded area behind the house.

Police arrested Petrich's girlfriend, a 41-year-old Centralia woman, who said the dogs showed up at her back door at around midnight.

The woman denied being involved in the burglary. Police arrested her for third-degree possession of stolen property and second-degree rendering criminal assistance.

Police are searching for Petrich. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-748-6422.
