OLYMPIA: Heritage Park Fountain reopens

Heritage Park Fountain reopened Thursday after closing last month for repairs.

The fountain at 330 Fifth Ave. S.W. closed May 7 after crews discovered the fountain was using about six times as much water as usual. Crews discovered two holes in the concrete water moat that feeds the jets of water, and discovered tears in the lining that keeps water from seeping through the concrete.

Families often flock to the fountain to play in its jets on warm days.

The fountain will be operational from 9 a.m.-noon, 1:30-5 p.m. and 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays through Tuesdays.

The fountain is closed Wednesdays for maintenance.
