Volunteer Spotlight: Carol Achatz

Carol Achatz is using volunteering as an outlet to hone her current skills, as well as learn some new ones to aid in her quest seeking new employment.

During her 20-year tenure in Human Resources at The Olympian, she volunteered as a board member and board president at the family oriented charity TOGETHER!

Recently she saw an opportunity to join the RSVP program and signed up to volunteer with The United Way as a Community Investment Committee volunteer. Her solid skills in HR management provided the committee credible experience throughout the grant submission, review and selection process from local nonprofits seeking funding through United Way’s Community Care Fund.

Carol has found volunteering to be an ideal way to stay connected within the community, provide networking opportunities while helping her gain new skills that will help in today’s competitive job market. More importantly Carol volunteers to contribute to the community that has served her well, and she urges others to do the same. “Just do it — try it. It’s so simple and important. It’s your contribution,” she says.
