Air Force Airman Jared N. Mitera graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Mitera is the son of Jean Mitera of Sumner, and brother of Alissa Perez of Olympia. He is a 2009 graduate of River Ridge High School.

Army Pvt. Marla L. Wright has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Wright is the daughter of Christine Harris of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and John Wright of Yelm.
Marines
Marine Corps Maj. Jeffrey D. Lee, a 1998 graduate of Olympia High School, recently received a Meritorious Mast for outstanding service. Meritorious Mast is a ceremony in which an individual is officially recognized by his commanding officer for superior performance. Lee received the recognition while assigned with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma, Okinawa.

Navy Seaman Apprentice David C. Batchelor, son of Lisa A. Batchelor of Shelton and Christopher L. Batchelor, of Duluth, Ga., was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
