Jonathan Stewart returns to Lacey to host youth football camp Friday and Saturday

• Published July 05, 2012

Timberline High School graduate and current Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will be in Lacey Friday and Saturday for his third annual Jonathan Stewart ProCamp at South Sound Stadium.

The free camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14 and runs from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. both days. A new addition this year is a free camp for high school players (ages 15-18), and takes place at the same time and location as the youth camp. The camp works with South Sound YMCA to provide camp scholarships to disadvantaged youth.

The camp features Stewart, other NFL players and some of the area’s high school head coaches. Stewart, a 5-foot-10, 230-pound running back, became Washington’s all-time leading rusher with 7,775 yards his senior season at Timberline in 2004. He was drafted by the Panthers at No. 13 overall out of Oregon in 2008. In four seasons in the NFL – all with Carolina -- Stewart has rushed for 3,500 yards and scored 26 touchdowns. He will be entering the final year of his contract this fall.
