Olympics: Capital High grad Brodie Buckland advances to men's pair semifinals in rowing

LONDON – Capital High School graduate Brodie Buckland, along with teammate James Marburg, finished second in Heat 2 of the men’s pair in rowing Saturday afternoon at Eton Dorney Rowing Centre at the first day of the London Olympics.

Buckland and Marburg, who are representing Australia, finished in a time of 6 minutes, 24.83 seconds. Canada won the heat in 6:23.80. New Zealand’s pair of Eric Murray and Hamish Bond set a world-best time of 6:08.50 to win Heat 1. Buckland, who graduated from Capital in 2002, and Marburg now advance to Wednesday’s semifinal. The finals are Friday.
