Locals place at Junior Olympics

Three Baron Park Striders track and field athletes placed in the top eight at the national Junior Olympics in Baltimore over the weekend.

Olympia High School sophomore Karen Bulger won the javelin in the 15-16 girls group with a mark of 135 feet, 9 inches; Tumwater High School junior Brooke Feldmeier, the reigning state heptathlon champion, placed third in the 15-16 girls heptathlon with 4,338 points; and Yelm High School junior Carene Stovall placed sixth in the 15-16 girls shot put at 36-111/2.
