Cars4Charities will take your old car, no matter what shape it is in. In return, you will get a tax deduction of $500 or more. They have hundreds of charities that can be helped by your car donation. For details, log on to cars4charities.org, or call 866-448-3487.

thurston county food bank needs clean, untorn paper grocery sacks. If you can help, please drop them off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, at 220 Thurston Ave. N.E., Olympia.

capital clubhouse Offers people who are homeless or who have mental health challenges resources to help them find jobs, meals, housing and clothing. It needs donations of clean, wearable clothing, tents, tarps, and blankets. Capital Clubhouse is open from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, at 618 Seventh Ave., S.E., Olympia. Call 360-357-2582 for information on donating money, or support groups that the Clubhouse offers.

Capitol land trust’s 12th annual summer gala This year’s event will kick off at 4 p.m., at Helsing Junction Farm, 12231 Independence Road, Rochester. The annual summer gala will feature South Sound artist Tony Angell, as the keynote speaker, along with a catered feast from Xinh Dwelley, a benefit auction, and live music by Back Porch Swing. Celebrity golf classic The Family Support Center of South Sound will be the beneficiary of funds raised from a weekend of auctions, food, and celebrity entertainment. The weekend kicks off on Saturday with a champagne reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and an auction, and celebrity entertainment at 8 p.m. The Monday golf classic begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., and a 10:30 a.m. “shotgun” start. Each golfer will enjoy complimentary seating at Saturday’s dinner and Monday’s lunch and dinner. All of this takes place at Indian Summer Golf & Country Club, 5900 Troon Lane S.E., Olympia. Golf reservations are $250 per person, and include both the dinner and golf events; golf foursomes are $1,000, and include golf for four, and Saturday dinner for eight; dinner-only on Saturday is $100 per person; golf only is $150 per person.
