Local couple to tell of life under Mussolini repression

John and Gentian Powell, longtime leaders in the Olympia area Italian community, will read from their new book "War is Just Another Day," at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Orca Books, 509 E. Fourth Ave, Olympia.

The book tells the story of Gentian Powell's life as a young girl in Italy, living under the repression of Mussolini, then Hitler's regime and finally, in no man's land between two battling armies.

"It was a time of grief, terror and yet infinite hope," Powell said.

The Powells will be available at the book reading to autograph purchased copies of the book, which is available through Orca Books or Amazon.com.
