Olympia’s KGY 1240-AM will only cover Capital High School football this fall, program director Kevin Huffer said. The games will be broadcast live and at www.kgyradio.com.

“We decided to do what we can do well,” Huffer wrote to The Olympian.

In previous years, KGY spread around its high school football coverage to the seven public high schools in the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater region – Black Hills, Capital, North Thurston, Olympia, River Ridge, Timberline and Tumwater. This summer, longtime KGY play-by-play broadcaster Dick Nichols retired following five decades at the station. The station did not bring back color commentator Larry McMillan.

Brent Bryant and Keith Clark are KGY’s new play-by-play team, Huffer wrote.
