Our family has known state Sen. Derek Kilmer for over 10 years. He is the only qualified candidate to fill the very big shoes Congressman Norm Dicks leaves with his retirement.

Kilmer is a brilliant man who possesses the financial proficiency to really understand budgets and what it takes to create a realistic budget that can actually be met. He has an exceptional track record of economic development accomplishments. He possesses a solid knowledge of what it takes to attract and retain businesses that provide quality family-wage jobs.

The biggest accomplishment we remember is when St. Anthony Hospital, frustrated by local government, was ready to walk away from their plans to build a new hospital in Gig Harbor. Kilmer was the creator and catalyst of a new law that enabled the construction of the St. Anthony Hospital, which now employs over 450 people and provides critical health services.

Kilmer has heart, something some legislators with his extraordinary track record lose along the way. He was raised in Port Angeles during a time of record unemployment and mill closures. He hasn’t forgotten what it was like and continues to fight for the rights of all citizens to have a good education, a good job and a clean place to raise their family. Vote for Derek Kilmer. You will be glad you did.
