The final numbers are in for the Little Red Schoolhouse Project.
The Olympia-based nonprofit provided school supplies and clothing for 3,133 students, representing more than 900 families from Thurston County, during its Aug. 16 event at Capital High School, according to Danielle Koenig with TOGETHER.
More families were served this year than in the organizations history, and the event would have been larger, but some families left before their numbers were called due to extremely hot temperatures that day, she said.
Most of the students who attended the event were from the Olympia School District and North Thurston Public Schools. Throughout the week, the event drew support from 230 volunteers.
