Three to see: Week 2

• Published September 07, 2012

Olympia (0-1) at Capital (1-0), 7:30 p.m. Friday, Ingeroll Stadium
Outlook: Capital comes into the annual Spaghetti Bowl game following a big 29-22 victory over 4A Newport last week when senior running back Kai Van Sickle scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds. It’s the second of four nonleague games against 4A competition for the Cougars. Capital leads the all-time Spaghetti Bowl series, 19-16, but Olympia has won six of the past seven games, including last year’s 10-7 victory. Olympia’s 34-0 shutout loss against nationally ranked Lake Oswego (Ore.) was the first time since 2007 the Bears have been shutout. Senior quarterback Gabe Padukiewicz was 10 of 18 for 96 yards in his first start.

Timberline (1-0) at Tumwater (0-1), 7 p.m. Friday, Tumwater District Stadium
Outlook: The Blazers have had the upper hand against the T-Birds as of late, winning four of their past five matchups since 2003. Spencer Crump and Jeff Winstead led Timberline’s rushing attack with Winstead scoring two of the team’s three touchdowns. Tumwater surrendered more than 500 yards of total offense in its 42-21 loss at Shelton last week. But a big bright spot was senior tailback Andrew Brown, who had 66 yards on 18 carries, but also had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Olympic (0-1) at Yelm (1-0), 7 p.m. Friday, Yelm Stadium
Outlook: The Tornados had no trouble offensively in its 53-14 season-opening win over Highline, but possibly more impressive was the first-string defense failed to give up any points. Yelm spread the ball around as four players scored touchdowns. Jacob Swilley tallied 100 yards rushing and scored four of those touchdowns. Olympic, led by Randy Grier’s 84 yards on 14 carries, struggled with eight turnovers in its 13-0 loss to Renton.
