Olympia School District: Coach decision was "made in the best interests of our students"

Olympia School District superintendent Dick Cvitanich posted a letter today on the district’s web site about the decision to not reinstate Coach Doug Galloway as head boys basketball coach at Capital High School.

“We want you to know that our administrators made these decisions after an extensive investigation with information that cannot be made public because of student privacy laws,” Cvitanich wrote. “Unfortunately there are students who have been directly and indirectly impacted by these inappropriate behaviors. We believe our recommendation was made in the best interests of our students and the long-term well-being of our basketball program.”

The letter states that the district will post the job opening immediately.
