Capital High student named semi-finalist for National Merit program
Capital High School senior Ryan Doenges has been named a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. He recently transferred to Capital from Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma. To qualify for the scholarship program, students must score in the top 1 percent on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The National Merit Scholarship Corp. will award 8,300 scholarships worth more than $32 million next spring. The organization releases names based on the school the student attends when they took the PSAT, so Doenges wasn't included in its list for Thurston County.
