The Evergreen State College in Olympia has been named a “Military Friendly School” for the third consecutive year.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Evergreen’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president of Victory Media, said in a news release. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”

The list features 1,739 VA-approved colleges, universities and trade schools that recruit and retain students with military experiences. It can be viewed at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com.

Evergreen has a Veterans Support Working Group made up of students, faculty and staff members, as well as a Student Veteran Organization. The college also hosts annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day events, and recruits veterans and their dependents with outreach and tuition benefits, according to the news release.
