Prep highlights from Sept. 18

Senior goalkeeper Olivia Brock registered eight saves to earn her second shutout of the season in Olympia’s 1-0 Narrows League 4A girls soccer victory over South Kitsap. Brooklyn Hooper’s goal in the 45th minute won it for the Bears (3-0).

Joni Lancaster had a hat trick, including two goals in two minutes, and Camryn Althauser added two more goals as Rochester posted a 6-0 win over Ocosta in 1A Southwest Washington Evergreen play.

Tumwater scored three of its goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 victory of River Ridge in EvCo 2A girls soccer. Mackenzie Bergquist recorded four saves in goal. The T-Birds got goals from Sharlee Fine, Peyton Brown, McKenzie May and Abbey Bergquist.

Julia Swortz and Krista Jones scored in each half in Timberline’s 2-0 win over Foss in Narrows 3A girls soccer.

Nichole Pittelkau had a season-high 22 kills and eight digs to lead Timberline to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-16) sweep of Wilson in Narrows 3A volleyball. Riley Podowicz had nine kills, five blocks and 12 digs, and Kori Tucker was 15 of 15 serving for the Blazers.

Capital improves to 4-0 behind Rachel Erickson’s 21 kills and Haley Vick’s three blocks in a 3-1 (28-26, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20) win over Centralia in EvCo 2A volleyball.

Lauren Voight smashed eight kills, and Tessa Matthews had 22 digs in Yelm’s 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-22) loss to South Kitsap in Narrows 4A volleyball.

Tumwater made quick work of River Ridge in its 3-0 (25-8, 25-5, 25-8) sweep in EvCo 2A volleyball, behind Karlee Sampson’s match-high 10 kills and three serving aces.

Silem Hernandez won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and also swam the second leg in the winning 200 medley relay in North Thurston’s 110-76 girls swimming dual meet victory over Tumwater. Abby Sullivan was a double winner in the 200 free and 100 backstroke for the T-Birds.

John Stormans didn’t drop a game in his straight-set win over Nick Jarvis as Olympia took a 5-0 Narrows 4A boys tennis victory from Gig Harbor. The match of the day was Olympia’s No. 1 doubles team of Chad Watson and Nate Stahley, who won, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.

North Thurston swept all matches it won in straight sets to defeat Mount Tahoma, 4-1, in Narrows 3A boys tennis. Kha Hoang and Alan Pavec won, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles for the Rams.
