Three to see: Week 5
Lincoln (3-1 overall, 0-1 3A Narrows) at Timberline (3-1, 1-0), 7 p.m., Friday, South Sound Stadium
Establish the run before 3A Narrows League? Big check for Timberline. Coach Nick Mullen said that was a big goal before league play started, and the run game -- led by senior Spencer Crumps 190 yards on 17 carries -- carried the Blazers in their 48-20 win over Wilson. Crump also tied a career high with four touchdowns in the game and now has 620 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns through four games. Lincoln, coached by 15-year NFL veteran Jon Kitna was held to minus-8 yards rushing in a 36-7 loss to North Thurston. If Timberline wins tonight, it is likely to set up an all-Lacey showdown in Week 8 with North Thurston with the 3A Narrows League title on the line. W.F. West (3-1 overall) at Tumwater (3-1, 1-0 2A EvCo), 7 p.m., Friday, Tumwater District Stadium
This matchup got a little more interesting following the T-Birds 35-28 double-overtime upset of then-No. 1-ranked Capital last Saturday. The Bearcats got back on the winning back with a 20-18 home win over Columbia River as the defense came up big, stopping a two-point conversion try inches short of the goal-line with 13 seconds left in the game. Tumwater quarterback Jayden Croft was responsible for four touchdowns (including one rushing in overtime) to help the T-Birds in the double-OT win over Capital. Should W.F. West beat Tumwater, and Capital beats Centralia, there will be a three-way tie for first place with four league games remaining. Tenino (4-0 overall, 2-0 SWW 1A Evergreen) at Rainier (0-4, 0-2), 7 p.m., Friday, Mountaineer Stadium
These teams are going in opposite directions, but when they meet for the annual 507 Trophy, the stakes are higher. Rainier has won four of the past five meetings. Tenino is averaging 40 points per game with a high-potent offense, while Rainier has been outscored 180-33 in four games. Teninos quarterback, Mac Shaw, a former Rainier player, is a dual-threat player who has lit it up through the air. Through four games, hes proven to be one of the states top passers. Hes already tallied 1,375 yards through the air and 15 touchdowns (five rushing). Fellow senior Devante Harris has 784 receiving yards. WEEK 5 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
