Teacher backs Price for his young promise

I spoke with Erik Price at a fundraising event for needy students recently. It brought back many good memories of Price as an intrinsically motivated and successful student of mine in Olympia High School in the ’80s. His attending this event is an example of his roots and caring in this community.

Meeting him again after all these years and having read all the news about his successful career in law leads me to offer my unsolicited endorsement. The words of others that describe and affirm Price, on his website and in The Olympian’s endorsement, are accurate but they only refer to the time since college. I suggest that commendation should predate his college years and subsequent jobs.

In his youth he was an intelligent, hard-working person of integrity and promise; nothing since is news to me. His hallmark personal and professional strengths and vision have deep roots. I asked if he likes his career path. He said yes, but that he wishes to do more, to give back and to make a difference in his community and our collective future.

He wants to fulfill a sense of citizenship that began to emerge in our shared history-civics class. I couldn’t be more proud of him.

Those traits and goals would serve him and us well in his desired role as a Superior Court judge. His long path has prepared him well.
