STOP is really ALEC, a corporate bill mill

There is a proliferation of STOP signs all over Thurston County. Few people in Thurston County understand these Stop Taking Our Property signs that are seen along the county roads.

I wondered what this was all about and began researching this organization, which is part of the Evergreen Freedom Foundation. I have learned that the Evergreen Freedom Foundation is now known as a Freedom Foundation with ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council.

The founder of this Freedom Foundation is Bob Williams. He is on the Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and a board member on the ALEC Board of Scholars as of 2011.

Supposedly this is a libertarian think tank and instead of working for liberalism, they work for ALEC. ALEC is a corporate bill mill. Not only does the group lobby or become a front group, it is far more powerful.

ALEC has people who ghost-write bills for state legislators to have its bills pushed through the legislatures for corporations. This is not for the people. It is for corporate world.

The Thurston County STOP signs are not really about taking away our property. This group wants to get rid of our current county commissioners and put in place people who will follow the dictates of corporate ALEC to take away our property.

ALEC controls many Republican legislators who are not the people’s friend.
