BELLEFONTE — Jerry Sandusky's attorney is asking that the $50,000 cash posted for bail be returned to his wife.

The motion for the release of his bail was made by Joe Amendola to Senior Judge John Cleland and filed in county court Thursday.

Dottie Sandusky posted the bail -- $50,000 plus collateral of $200,000 from their College Township home -- in December, which allowed her husband to be released from the county jail after his preliminary hearing.

Jerry Sandusky was put on house arrest awaiting his trial for seven months, barred from leaving except for medical reasons or to accompany his attorneys for preparing his defense. Sandusky also had to wear an electronic monitoring device.

After Sandusky was convicted in June, Cleland revoked his bail at the request of the prosecution.Sandusky has been sitting in the county jail since then, awaiting his sentencing, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

The 68-year-old Sandusky is likely facing the rest of his life behind bars because he was convicted of 45 counts.
