Three to see: Week 6

Central Kitsap (3-2 overall, 2-1 4A Narrows) at Olympia (2-3, 2-0), 7 p.m. Friday, Ingersoll Stadium
All of a sudden, Olympia’s 0-3 start is far back in the rear-view mirror. The Bears are one of two 4A Narrows teams unbeaten in league play, and should they get past the Cougars at home tonight, a Week 8 showdown with Bellarmine could mean the league title on the line. Olympia’s offense got enough done in a 15-14 come-from-behind road win over South Kitsap last week, trailing 14-7 until Tanner Hartsoch’s 40-yard touchdown, plus 2-point conversion, gave the Bears the lead with 7:07 left to play. Central Kitsap is the league’s third-most highest-scoring team (29 points per game), and put up 14 unanswered points in a 35-17 win over Yelm last week. The Cougars got two touchdowns apiece from running back Nicholas Zawadzki and quarterback Cody LaFrontaine.

Tumwater (4-1 overall, 2-0 2A EvCo) at North Thurston (5-0, 3-0 3A Narrows), 7 p.m. Friday, South Sound Stadium
This game features two of the area’s most experienced head coaches -- Sid Otton (38 years at Tumwater) and Rocky Patchin (21 years at North Thurston) -- but for the first time since 2009, it isn’t a league game. North Thurston holds the all-time series lead, 18-14, but Tumwater has won the past two games. Should North Thurston win, it would be the program’s best start in 36 years. The Rams are averaging 226 yards on the ground with its top two rushers -- Mo Manning (359 yards, 72 carries, 13 TDs) and Brandon Belisario (389 yards, 53 carries, three TDs) -- but the defense has only allowed 42 points through five games. The T-Birds escaped a tough home test against W.F. West last week (21-20) and blocked a PAT after a Tanner Gueller touchdown in the second quarter was the difference maker. During its four-game win streak, Tumwater is averaging 33 points per contest.

Capital (4-1 overall, 1-1 2A EvCo) at Bellarmine (4-1, 3-0 4A Narrows), 7 p.m. Friday, Memorial Field
The pass-happy offense of Bellarmine will clach the heavy ground attack of Capital in a big nonleague showdown in Tacoma. Bellarmine quarterback Sefo Liufau, bound for Colorado, doesn’t make mistakes often; he’s yet to throw an interception and has tallied 1,184 passing yards and thrown for 12 touchdowns, but he’s also run for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Junioe Garrett McKay (533 yards, 35 receptions, three TDs) is the Lions’ top receiver. Capital got back on the winning track, scoring 48 unanswered points in a 48-3 2A EvCo win over Centralia behind Kai Van Sickle’s 275 yards and four touchdowns and Derrick Becker’s 9 of 14 performance for 141 yards through the air. Capital has won all three of its previous nonleague games -- all 4A opponents.
