FDR was President the last time Yelm and Bellarmine Prep faced off in football

• Published October 11, 2012

Yelm travels to No. 3-ranked Bellarmine Prep Friday night in a key 4A Narrows League football game for the Tornados. At 3-3 overall and 1-2 in league play, the Tornados are starting to get into must-win situations in order to remain in the playoff hunt.

An interesting stat about Friday's matchup: The last time these two football teams met was in 1934. Franklin D. Roosevelt was President of the United States. Bellarmine, led by coach John Kennedy (not JFK), defeated Yelm, 18-0.
