Kimmerle is an award-winning landscape photographer from Casper, Wyo. He will spend his five-week residency photographing the forms and textures of Lake Chelan National Recreation Area’s natural and man-made landscapes.
Stehekin, home to about 75 permanent residents, is at the head of 55-mile long Lake Chelan and is accessible only by boat, foot or floatplane.
Previously, Kimmerle was a 2011 artist-in-residence at Zion National Park.
His work has been featured in Lens- Work, Black & White and Natural Density. Kimmerle was a 2012 recipient of the Wyoming Arts Council Visual Arts Fellowship Award.

U.S. 101 ROAD WORK
As part of routine maintenance on U.S. Highway 101 along Lake Crescent, workers have begun rock scaling and bolting of a cliff face at Milepost 228 just west of Sledgehammer Point. The work began Monday and is scheduled for completion Nov. 2. Rock scaling and bolting is done periodically in this area to reinforce the cliff face and lessen the chance of rock falling onto the road.
To accommodate construction equipment and provide for public safety, the road will be reduced to one lane of traffic during construction. Visitors should expect delays of up to 30 minutes.
Flaggers and pilot cars will guide motorists through the active construction areas on weekdays; temporary traffic signals will be used for weekend and evening travel.
Oversized vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route.
“We urge motorists to use caution and drive slowly through work zones as this maintenance project is completed,” said Todd Suess, acting superintendent of Olympic National Park.
