Olympia, the regular-season 4A Narrows League champion, will send six players – two singles players and two doubles teams – to this weekend’s 4A West Central District III tennis tournament after a strong performance over the weekend at the 4A Narrows League tournament at the Capitol City Tennis and Athletic Center.
The West Central District III tournament begins Friday, also at the Capitol City Tennis and Athletic Center.
In singles, senior John Stormans topped Stadium’s Callen Peterson, 6-4, 6-0, for the Narrows League tournament title.
In the third/fourth-place match, Stadium’s Aaron Park beat Olympia’s Ryan Adams, 6-2, 7-6. Olympia’s top two doubles teams placed second and third.
The No. 1 doubles teams of Nate Stahley and Chad Wooten advanced to the title match before falling to Bellarmine’s Chase Hassig and Henry Wurst, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.
The Bears’ No. 2 doubles team of William Berghoff and Kyle Wooten placed third.
In the 3A Narrows League tournament, which was completed Monday, all of the South Sound representatives at the 3A West Central District III tournament, which begins Thursday at Sprinker Recreation Center, will be in doubles.
Shelton’s John Pentony and Alex Deacon won the doubles final, topping North Thurston’s No. 1 doubles team of Jason Agtarap and Gabriel Rush.
The Rams also will send their No. 2 doubles team of Scott Vannerson and Jooneil Ahn, who earned a top-four spot, after falling to Pentony and Deacon in the semifinals.
