Tumwater school with history of predicting presidents posts results of mock election

Lisa Pemberton, staff writer

Black Hills High School students have a reputation of accurately predicting the next president through their mock elections.

“In regards to the presidential election, I think we’ve called it every time,” said social studies teacher George Rother.

About a dozen candidates and campaign representatives for several political races – including president, governor, legislative district and secretary of state – participated in the the Tumwater school's Candidates Forum on Friday.

Afterward, the students voted in a mock election. Final counts showed the Obama-Biden ticket winning with 447 votes. Romney-Ryan received 225 votes.
