Woman, 76, dies after Friday attack at apartments

An elderly woman who police said was attacked Friday by a fellow resident at the Casa Madrona Apartmentsdied in the hospital Sunday, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said.

He identified the deceased as 76-year-old Chasu White.

Olympia police said White was attacked by a nude woman who lived at the apartments, as did White, which provide long-term housing to the elderly and disabled.

The alleged attacker, 45, was undergoing a mental health evaluation Friday, police said.

Michael Ragsdale, who lives at the apartments in the 3900 block of Martin Way, said Friday he saw the woman hit White over the head with a chair and proceed to punch her on the ground, unprovoked.
