WSP responding to crash at Hwy 101, I-5

8:07 a.m. update: The Washington State Patrol has cleared the crash from the roadway, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The State Patrol has responded to 20 crashes in Thurston and Pierce counties in the past two days of morning commutes, according to Trooper Guy Gill.

INITIAL REPORT: The Washington State Patrol is responding to a multi-vehicle crash near the junction of Highway 101 and Interstate 5 this morning.

The crash is in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 to the northbound lanes of the interstate, according to Trooper Guy Gill.

The left lane is blocked, Gill said.

Traffic headed south on Highway 101 was backed up beyond Crosby Boulevard as of 8 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
