Eyman makes mockery of the initiative process
WILLIAM LAVIGNE TUMWATERYour editorial position opposing the supermajority (Initiative 1185) was right on. However, the statement “Perhaps the Supreme Court will bail us out” is off the mark. The court has had this issue before it for some time now and has failed to act. Your quote from the constitution shows it is unconstitutional to anyone that can read. Eyman and his buddies have made a laughing stock out of the intiative process. Anytime a citizen can contribute millions of dollars to affect the outcome for private gain – for example, Costco, Eyman, etc. – it is wrong and the Legislature needs to put the initiative process under the candidate finance law for supportive contributions.
