Ethel man jailed for allegedly punching and throwing puppy

CHELSEA KROTZER

An Ethel man was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after allegedly punching a German shepherd puppy in the face and throwing it against a tree Thursday night.

According to a news release:

Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 100 block of Oyler Road at 12:53 a.m. to find a 19-year-old man “intoxicated and agitated” in the street.

The man’s family told police the man “was out of control.” Deputies found the dog, which had swollen, bloodshot eyes and was limping.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian, who said the dog had suffered head trauma and had a leg injury.

The man was booked into the Lewis County Jail on suspicion of first-degree animal cruelty and being a minor in possession.
