Two students reported a possible cougar sighting at about 6:30 a.m. Monday near the corner of Sandy Point Road and Puget Beach Road, according to North Thurston Public Schools spokeswoman Courtney Schrieve.

The Washington State Patrol, Thurston County Sheriff’s Offices and Department of Fish & Wildlife were notified about the possible sighting. Officials have not yet confirmed that a cougar was in the area, Schrieve said.

To report a sighting of dangerous wildlife that might threaten the public, call 911 or the Department of Fish and Wildlife at 877-933-9847.
