GRuB among those in US awarded grant

An Olympia-based nonprofit that works with at-risk youth to build backyard and community gardens has won an $87,625 grant from State Farm.

The grant from the State Farm Youth Advisory Board will be used to advance the work of Garden-Raised Bounty (GRuB) in area high schools.

GRuB was one of 68 national winners from a pool of 969 applications, according to State Farm officials. The nonprofit was chosen because of its focus on teaching youth about teamwork, enterprise and the value of healthful food for themselves and the community.
