Today I drove by Bailey’s Motor Inn on Martin Way. It struck me that with its rooms and empty restaurant, it could be converted to the homeless shelter that is planned but unwanted in the Industrial Park. It has a kitchen, rooms with showers and bathrooms, is on the bus line and is not far from medical and other facilities.
It certainly needs a facelift but it seems that it would better serve the needs of its clients than the planned facility in the industrial park. I think it could be accomplished more cooperatively than what is happening now without a fight and might be a better placement.
