State volleyball recap: North Thurston (3A), Tumwater (2A) advance to title matches; Olympia places fourth in 4A

What a weekend at state volleyball.

North Thurston was the surprise of the Class 3A tournament at Saint Martin's University, pulling off wins over Shorewood, Columbia River and Southridge to advance to Saturday night's title match before falling to Prairie, 3-0 (20-25, 22-25, 16-25). In 4A, Olympia advanced to the semifinals, and placed fourth after its 3-1 (28-26, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22) loss to Jackson. And finally in 2A, Tumwater played in the title match for the second year in a row, but fell to West Valley of Yakima, 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18).
