Military anthems not same as fight songs

ROBERT SMITH

I

am very offended at the report on the Veterans Day ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda where the anthems of the different services in the Armed Forces Medley were referred to as “fight songs.” This terminology makes the various branches of the armed forces sound like they are college or high school athletic teams. I suppose the “Star Spangled Banner is a “fight song” in this writer’s mind. What happens to persons who serve in the Armed Forces is too important to make light of. I am insulted to think that anyone might think of me or my buddies as less than what we really are.
