Flood warning for Deschutes, Chehalis River continue Tuesday
Staff reportThe National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Deschutes River that will remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon. The Deschutes River at the Rainier gauge off Vail Loop Road S.E. was reaching a flood stage of 11 feet at around 7 p.m. Monday, and was expected to crest at 11.9 feet by 10 p.m. with minor flooding in the area, according to a Thurston County news release. River levels are expected to fall below the flood stage early Tuesday at the Rainier Gage. The Chehalis River is expected to flood Tuesday and Wednesday, the release said. The Grand Mound gauge is was expected to reach a flood stage of 14 feet at 7 a.m. Tuesday, cresting at 16.5 feet by 4 a.m. Wednesday with moderate flooding in the Independence Valley, including state Route 12, James Road, Independence Road, Moon Road and Anderson Road.
