A Washington State Patrol car was struck from behind Friday afternoon while pulled over on southbound Interstate 5 at milepost 104, near U.S. Highway 101.

The patrol vehicle was involved traffic-control work on the right-hand shoulder about 1:45 p.m. when it was struck from behind by a driver who’d lost control in a large pool of standing water, Trooper Guy Gill said.

The patrol car’s driver was hospitalized after complaining of back pain, but her injuries are minor, Gill said. A cadet in the passenger seat and the driver of the other car were not hurt.

No lanes of traffic were blocked, Gill added.
