TODAY -- Ballroom Bandalabra: Built around rhythmic and minimalist concepts, SKERIK'S BANDALABRA is a four-piece, Seattle-based band featuring Skerik on saxophone, Andy Coe on electric guitar, Evan Flory Barnes on upright bass and Dvonne Lewis on drums. TODAY-SUNDAY -- Holiday theater continues: Two plays continue this weekend that will get you laughing at the holidays.
After years of Stardust holidays at Harlequin Productions, the local theater group presents a revue, “A CHRISTMAS SURVIVAL GUIDE,” which takes a humorous look at what Christmas is like for adults. Showtimes this weekend are 7:30 tonight and Saturday plus 2 p.m. Sunday. The show runs through Dec. 31 at State Theater, 202 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia. Meanwhile, Capital Playhouse’s holiday musical “NUNCRACKERS” shows what happens when the quirky “Nunsense” gals decide to tape a holiday TV special in the convent basement. SATURDAY -- ‘A Joyful Noise’: MASTERWORKS CHORAL ENSEMBLE offers a holiday concert of new arrangements of mostly traditional pieces — and a silent auction so you can shop. And take note, American Idol (or The Voice) wanna-bes: Among those auction items is the chance to perform as a soloist with Masterworks in the spring. SUNDAY -- This is no reindeer: Santa is coming to the Olympic Flight Museum, and he’s not arriving in a sleigh. Join in the fun at the 14th ANNUAL SANTA WELCOME, where Santa and Mrs. Claus will buzz in on a helicopter. The festive event features music from the Tenino High School Choir along with dance performances by Debbi’s Dance, Etc. and Center Stage Dance Academy.
