Last call for future newspaper columnists.

The deadline to apply for The Olympian’s 2012 Board of Contributors panel is Monday.

We are looking for five or six local writers to write between eight and 10 columns during the year.

The Olympian will be selecting the 2013 Board of Contributors for the broadest and most diverse representation of our community from the applications we receive.

Are you a neighborhood activist, a student, a homemaker or a state worker?

Do you have knowledge and/or passion for education, the environment, spiritual life or health care?

Are you conservative, liberal or somewhere in the middle?

The goal is to form a 2013 Board of Contributors that represents all walks of life and that will add to the richness and diversity of the South Sound Community.

We want to hear from all of you.

We are inviting people to send us self-nominations today. Here’s how to apply:

 • Send us a cover letter with information about your ethnic and educational background. Tell us why you want to write a newspaper column. Include any particular area of expertise or passion, your political philosophy and mention any writing experience.

 • Provide two writing samples of no less than 600 words on current topics.

 • Send your self-nomination letter and samples to: Board of Contributors, The Olympian, 111 Bethel St. NE, Olympia, WA 98506. Or you can send them electronically to: letters@theolympian.com, putting “Board of Contributors” into the subject line.

 • The Olympian will accept applications until 5 p.m. Monday.
