Two people were injured in a head on crash south of Shelton Monday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported in the northbound lane of Highway 101 near Cloquallam Road at 7:09 p.m.

Deborah D. Waldon, 62, of Hoodsport was headed north on the highway in a 2000 Acura 32TL as Michael P. Martin, 34, of Shelton was driving south in a 2009 Nissan Murano.

Waldon apparently was trying to pass a slower vehicle when she hit Martin's car head on, the release said. Both were injured and taken to Mason General Hospital.

Waldon is being accused of second-degree negligent driving, the release said.
