SOUTH SOUND HIGHLIGHTS
The underclassmen stole the show for Olympia in its 74-39 non-league girls basketball victory over North Thurston on Wednesday. Freshman Jenna Randich and sophomore Laura Snodgrass were the Bears’ scoring leaders with 14 and 12 points, respectively. The Bears also got eight points apiece from freshman Moriah Luthy and sophomores Sarah Snodgrass and Faith Cebula. The Bears (3-1 overall) led 30-22 early in the third quarter before outscoring the Rams (0-3) 44-17 the rest of the way. Katherine Welcome led the Rams with 10 points. Brendan Leonard had 17 points and three steals, and Louis Johnson scored 14 points to help keep Olympia unbeaten with a 66-38 non-league boys basketball win over North Thurston. Ande Grantham and Tru Hicks had 10 points each for the Rams (1-4). Olympia had 12 team steals and forced 20 turnovers. Central Kitsap outscored Yelm 13-2 in overtime for a 71-60 4A Narrows League boys basketball victory. Dale Sullivan had a game-high 23 points for Yelm, and Trey Friend added 21 points. mwochnick@theolympian.com
