A high wind warning for the Olympia area is set to take effect at 10 p.m. and continue through 4 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. A high wind warning means damaging winds of at least 40 miles per hour with gusts of 58 mph or higher.

According to the National Weather Service:

Winds 15 to 30 mph will develop late this evening, then gain strength through the night, increasing to 30 to 40 mph, with gusts to 60 mph late tonight and Monday morning. Winds are expected to slowly ease Monday afternoon.

High winds can topple trees, knock down power lines and damage property. Residents should prepare for possible power outages.
