Weather updates and closures for Monday

Staff report

High winds early Monday have knocked out power for about 8,000 Puget Sound Energy customers in south King County and Thurston County.

Spokeswoman Julia Hughes says there are 60 outages in the area including Auburn, Federal Way and Olympia.

The Olympian will keep track of how the weather is affecting your morning commute, as well as school and services updates and closures. We'll also keep you up-to-date on current weather trends throughout the day.

Schools:

THURSTON COUNTY

The Evergreen State College: Update: Olympia campus power has been restored. Evening activities and functions will proceed as scheduled.

LP Brown Elementary: Closed today due to power outage.

MASON COUNTY

Hood Canal: No Hood Canal buses for Shelton High School and Oakland Bay students.

LEWIS COUNTY

Adna: Updated: Closed.

Mason County PUD

PUD 3 linemen are working throughout Mason County to restore electricity to an estimated 2,600 customers who lost power when the storm rolled through the area.

Areas with reported outages include:

· Walker Park Road

· Cole Road

· Island Lake

· Lake Cushman

· Lake Limerick

· North Shore Road

· Timberlakes

Customers may report outages any time by calling 360-432-1533 from Shelton; 360-275-2833 from Belfair; and 360-861-4247, Elma.

Here are the National Weather Service predictions:

SeaTac Airport: ~5% chance of a white Christmas.

Olympia: ~2%.

Bellingham: ~6%.

Hoquiam: 0%.

Stampede: 100%.
