At Texas 85, No. 23 North Carolina 67: Sheldon McClellan scored 18 points, and the struggling Longhorns (7-4) upset the Tar Heels (8-3). Texas was off to its worst start since coach Rick Barnes’ first season in 1999 while playing without star guard Myck Kabongo, who reportedly has been suspended for the season by the NCAA for his involvement with an agent. Reggie Bullock led the Tar Heels with 18 points.

At No. 1 Duke 88, Cornell 47: Playing as a top-ranked team for the 210th time under Mike Krzyzewski – but the first since February 2011– the Blue Devils (10-0) got 20 points from Seth Curry, and a career-high 12 assists from Quinn Cook in routing the Big Red (4-7).

At No. 5 Louisville 79, Florida International 55: Peyton Siva had career highs of five 3-pointers and 12 assists as the Cardinals (10-1) beat the Golden Panthers (3-5) in the first meeting between Louisville coach Rick Pitino and son Richard Pitino, coach at FIU.

At No. 11 Cincinnati 60, Xavier 45: Sean Kilpatrick scored 25 points and led a 17-4 second-half surge that carried the Bearcats (11-0) past the Musketeers (7-3) in an amicable renewal of their crosstown rivalry one a year after it was marred by a brawl.
