No. 1 Stanford 53, at No. 21 South Carolina 49: Chiney Ogwumike had 21 points and 15 rebounds, Mikaela Ruef had a tie-breaking basket with 53 seconds to go, and the Cardinal (10-0) held on to beat the Gamecocks (10-1).

The game was tied at 45-all with 1:14 to go after Aleighsa Welch’s free throw. That’s when Ruef drove left and put up a shot that barely caught the rim and fell in for the lead.

South Carolina had a chance to tie on its next possession, but Ieasia Walker made just one of two free throws. Walker’s 3-pointer with 3 seconds to go drew the Gamecocks to 51-49 but that was as close as they got.

Michigan State 49, Oregon State 35: Becca Mills had 16 points, and Jasmine Thomas picked up 10 rebounds to lead the Spartans (10-1) to a victory over the Beavers (6-5) at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. Ruth Hamblin led OSU with 10 points.
