Culture of violence must be changed

OlympiaDecember 24, 2012

W e are all responsible for tolerating a culture of violence: every time we fail to turn off a television show that sensationalizes, trivializes, glorifies and desensitizes the horror of violence, every time we shrug off bullying, every time we toss up our hands at the politics of dealing with it, every time we fail to address mental health needs. Now that 20 children have been murdered – will we all take responsibility for this insanity and do something?

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
